This summer, Blake King was the contractor who renovated our kitchen and great room area. He and his crew started on time and ended one week past the expected finish date due to extra things we asked to have done. We also ended on budget with the obvious exception of extra things we added (which were priced fairly.) He had proper insurances and the job was properly permitted and inspected. Our project was involved as we wanted a wall taken out that separated the kitchen area from the living room. Other contractors and an engineer we hired had plans with multiple posts to take the load. Blake looked in the attic and talked with our engineer. The columns could be removed from the plan. I think everyone else was worried about having to replace most of the ceiling and the size of the beam. Blake brought in that beam in three parts that were sandwiched together and secured properly. I could go into more detail, but suffice it to say that we have our dream kitchen and great room, and it is our main area. It took years to find the right contractor that could do it in the right budget, but Blake made it all happen. He and his crew are hands-on and did a good portion of the work themselves. He has a calm disposition, which helps with the stress of a construction job. He is knowledgeable and had solutions to problems that came up. Our biggest regret is that we didn’t let him get the flooring, as we bought the flooring from Catawba Renovation Warehouse, and it was unusable. (Which he corrected within a couple of hours from another supplier) He and his guys are very respectful and were a pleasure to have. They even moved our furniture into a portable storage unit we had on site. We could not be happier with our new living area and kitchen.
